IFDF Membership Options
“IFDF protects and advocates for the best interests of its members and consumers across the state. IFDF keeps Independents informed on industry news and provides the resources we need to better our businesses
and services for the families we serve."
Firm Member
- Firm members are independently owned and operated funeral, crematory and/or cemetery firms that meet IFDF’s criteria for membership.
- Dues are based on the total number of calls for all locations owned by the Firm Member. Each Firm Member, regardless of the number of locations of the firm, shall be entitled to cast one vote on business before the Association's general membership. Beginning with the 2023-2024 membership year, fees range from $300 - $1425/year for the main firm location.
- In addition to its tiered firm membership fee for the main location (see the bulleted point above), a firm with one or more branch locations will pay $150/branch location, which entitles the firm to one free staff membership (a $60 value) at each branch location.
- *To set up membership for additional locations of the firm, please join as a Firm Member first, then sign up each Firm Branch below. Please indicate the staff person at each location who will receive the one free staff membership at that location.
- Membership year runs from September 1 - August 31.
Firm Branch
- If you are trying to add a funeral home branch location owned by an IFDF Firm Member, please use the "Join As Firm Branch" button below to join your location. Firm Membership is required prior to the addition of a branch location.

Individual Member (Not Affiliated with IFDF Firm)
Individuals who are Licensed Funeral Directors and/or Embalmers, Preneed Sales Agents, Interns/Apprentices, End-of-Life Doulas, or employees of non-IFDF Firm Members who meet the Association's criteria for membership and pay Association dues as determined by the Association's Board of Directors. Individual Members may not own a funeral establishment, direct disposal establishment or cemetery. This membership category applies to licensed FD/E contractors and retired funeral professionals as well.
- Individual Members have no voting privileges on business before the Association's general membership. Individual Members may serve on committees or on the Board of Directors.
- Individual members can earn up to 6 continuing education credits at no cost per membership year toward the 12 CEUs needed for bi-annual license renewal by attending the monthly "Straight Talk" webinars/continuing education courses or through the new Independent Education Institute (IEI), IFDF's on-demand, professional development program. Members may earn additional CEUs from the "Straight Talk" webinar series per year, but will need to pay $50 for each additional continuing education credit per membership year.
- Beginning June 1, 2023, Individual members will have access to the Independent Education Institute's (IEI) learning center. The IEI includes state-approved continuing education webinars on demand for self-study. Please allow 24 hours for membership approval before gaining access to the Learning Center.
- Fee of $90/year.
- Membership year runs from September 1 - August 31.
Individual Member (Affiliated with IFDF Firm)
Individuals who are Licensed Funeral Directors and/or Embalmers, Preneed Sales Agents, Interns/Apprentices, End-of-Life Doulas, or employees of Firm Members who meet the Association's criteria for membership and pay Association dues as determined by the Association's Board of Directors. Affiliate Member
Affiliate Members are individual suppliers of goods and services relating to the funeral industry and who support the goals of IFDF.
- Affiliate Members have no voting privileges on business before the Association's general membership. Affiliate members may serve on committees.
- Low membership fees of $262.50/year (2nd year will be prorated if joining mid-year)
As a member benefit for 2023-2024, each affiliate may place one free ad/year in one issue of the e-newsletter.
Beginning June 1, 2023, affiliate members will have access to the Independent Education Institute's (IEI) learning center. The IEI is IFDF's professional development program that includes state-approved continuing education webinars on demand for self-study. Student Member
Student Members are individuals currently enrolled in a course in Funeral Science toward a degree . Student membership is limited to 3 years.
