About the Course

This series explores a proactive approach to disaster preparedness for funeral home owners and directors. Topics that will be covered are planning to respond to a disaster and how to reduce the damage from storm or disaster. This program will also explore how a funeral home can implement risk management practices to protect them from property losses, regarding crematories, and litigation.

 

1.    Part 1 (30 minutes) March 20, 2024Planning for a Disaster –

The best way to weather a storm is to be ready for it. Learn to organize the intangibles in your business to help get back up and running as soon as possible.

 

2.    Part 2 (30 minutes) July 17, 2024Protect your Property –

How can you reduce the damage from a storm or other disaster?

 

3.    Part 3 (30 minutes) August 21, 2024Funeral Services Losses & Exposures - There are many procedures in the funeral industry that are large sources of risk exposure and liability. Join us as we discuss common policy exclusions, cremation risks, mistakes, claims examples, general training guidance, as well as other loss exposures and risk management practices. We will discuss what happens when a lawsuit occurs and how to mitigate fire related disasters from happening.

The 1 CEU will be awarded after completion of Parts 1-3.

About the Presenters

Tony Borreson is a risk consultant with Federated Insurance, connecting clients and association members with tools to help them develop and maintain a risk management culture in their businesses. He has been with Federated for five years, starting in the company’s communications department, where he wrote and edited various risk management materials. Earlier in his career, he worked in local news, working with funeral homes to prepare obituaries and death notices for publication.


Stanlee Logue is from Acworth, Georgia and graduated from Reinhardt University in Waleska, GA where he played football for 4 years. After Reinhardt, Stanlee joined Federated Insurance as a Marketing Representative in Augusta, GA. Stanlee recently moved to Atlanta, GA with his fiancée, Brittany, to become an Account Executive with Federated Insurance. Stanlee is now responsible for 30 association relationships in 4 states (GA, FL, SC, and AL). Stanlee and Brittany love UGA football and Braves baseball.
