The IFDF Mission

Our History

Organized in 1992, the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida (IFDF) is a statewide membership association representing more than 250 independently-owned funeral, crematory and cemetery firms operating in Florida. Since then, our association has worked tirelessly to strengthen members’ ability to serve before and after a death through professional development, legislative advocacy, continued education, and the IFDF Master Trust (I-Trust).

For over 30 years, IFDF has worked to not only enhance and perpetuate independent funeral home, crematory and cemetery firms in Florida, but also to protect consumers and provide transparency within the death care industry.

Our "Why"

IFDF gives a voice to Independents across the state. Our mission is to promote, preserve, and protect independently owned and operated funeral homes, crematory and cemetery firms in the state of Florida. Together, we are "FAMILIES SERVING FAMILIES."

Who We Are

IFDF is made up of members spanning all the different realms of Florida's death care industry. Among our members are:

  • Independents: the independent funeral homes and cemeteries, and their owners, funeral directors, and embalmers who make up the strong core of Florida's funeral industry.
  • Affiliate Members: businesses whose purpose is to provide quality goods and services to Florida's independents.
  • Students: the funeral directors and embalmers of the future!

Contribute to Our Goals

Donate today to be part of the "Families Serving Families" movement! We would not be able to accomplish our goals without the support of our generous donors and sponsors.  Independents care for families when it matters most, and we're here to ensure they thrive. When you give, you lift up Independents, safeguard our future, and honor our commitment to “Families Serving Families.”
