Full-Time Faculty Position in the FSE Program at Miami Dade College Available

The faculty member will teach lectures and laboratories for students enrolled in the Funeral Service Education Program at the College.  Teaching assignments may include morning, afternoon, and evening and weekend assignments. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.


  1. Master’s degree required. Associate’s degree in Funeral Service Education from an American Board of Funeral Service Education accredited institution.  State of Florida funeral service director/embalmer certification or ability to obtain State of Florida funeral service director/embalmer certification within one year of appointment required. Associate in Science degree in Funeral Services Education from an ABFSE (American Board of Funeral Service Education) 
  2. Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  3. One year experience in embalming
  4. Must be knowledgeable about ABFSE accreditation standards and applicable State and Federal Laws
  5. Must be knowledgeable with OSHA and Bio-Hazardous Waste Regulations
  6. Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
  7. Ability to function well in a technological environment and willing to use technological tools in instruction
  8. Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
  9. Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques
  10. Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus
  11. Must possess current knowledge of curriculum and methodology issues in Funeral Services
  12. Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
  13. Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  14. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  15. Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated on or before the start of Fall Semester 2024
  16. Doctoral stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable
